Disagreed with her wishes-she converted consensual sex to RAPE
Rape accused claims relationship consensual
In a twist to the Dutch women rape case, the accused, in a bail application said he was having an intimate relationship with one of the women, and things went sour after their visit to Bangkok.
Sufian Siddiqui, counsel for Yasir Altaf, arguing before the Additional Sessions Judge said, “The Dutch woman Julie (name changed) wanted to settle down with Altaf in a separate house in Holland, but he refused”.
Siddiqui produced several email exchanges between the couple from January 2010 to April 2010, wherein Julie expressed her free will to stay in a relationship with Altaf.
Altaf alleged in his bail application that Julie wrote threat mails to him asking for travel expenses or face consequences.
Producing photographs of Julie and Altaf from their leisure trip to Bangkok, Sufian submitted that Julie complained about Altaf raping her in Srinagar in January 2010, but never registered a complaint with any police station — after her return from Srinagar to Delhi.
The counsel also claimed that the Dutch woman had called Altaf to Thailand in March 2010.
“The woman cherished her trip with Altaf to Srinagar, as she wrote mails stating the same. On the other hand, she says he raped her in illegal confinement. It took about 4 months for her to make up her mind to file a rape complaint,” stated Sufian in court.
The prosecution contended that the woman was cheated, as Altaf and his friend Omer Baktoo, who is on the run — cheated the women and seized their passport to seek sexual favours from them in Srinagar.
Sufian contended that as per the FIR, Altaf returned the passport on February 6 2010.
However, the women were still in no frame of mind to register a complaint.
“It is a false case, wherein Altaf has been fabricated, as he refused to agree to her wishes,” said Sufian. After hearing the lengthy arguments, the court has reserved its order on the bail application till Saturday.
